Terravita Gardens = Earth Life Gardens.
In 1840 the German chemist Justus von Liebig managed to make a considerable increase in crop production by using synthesised products from chemical origin as fertilisers. Later, other scientists developed in the same way other products to eradicate plagues and diseases. Hormones and a wide range of products proved themselves again to be useful in securing the world food production. This historical process was called “the green revolution”. However what people did not know at that time was that this so called “green revolution” was more of a step back than a step forward and today is considered as one of the darker spells in history, due to the uncontrolled, non-discriminated use of these products in the agricultural field. All micro organisms and organisms producing beneficial substances in a natural way, were systematically eliminated as the soil was being contaminated and the environment was becoming polluted. As a consequence, vast extensions of fertile soil became completely useless unless even higher doses of chemical fertilisers were used, causing as a result a harmful effect on the consumer’s health due to their high residuality. Besides that there also was the increase in the environmental pollution and the decrease in benefits due to the high costs. Plagues and illnesses became more and more resistant with each application needing to increase the doses and thereby increasing the toxicity levels in order to control them.
In the present context of a rising awareness about all these problems together with the strong will of many people around the world to start a true green revolution by developing and taking meassures with a less polluting and more regenerative effect on the enviroment, either on the soil as on the beneficial species of organisms and microorganisms, Terravita wants to make its own contribution to this long process which we still have ahead. Knowing that all living creatures’ health depend on their nutrition, Terravita is applying the latest and more advancedd technology in our gardens and vegetable patches to correct and regenerate the soil and its bacterial flora by introducing the revolutionary effective micro organisms (EM) discovered by Dr. T.Higa, coupled with mineral elements and organic matter from plant and animal origin. As a result , we have managed to have well nourished plants with a strengthened immune system and have, at the same time, an integrated control of plagues and diseases by using ethologic factors, repelling or attracting plants, plant extracts as well as and organic, biologic products and minerals. In this way it is also possible to regenerate populations of beneficial species which control the environment in a natural way and mantain a balance in nature. For this purpose Terravita´s team considers every garden as an individual special case and takes into account its specific needs. In order to do so Terravita first elaborates a dyagnosis of each garden and develop short term and long term plans, all this under the strict supervision of our technical team.
